Sage's and Grandma's Tricolor Mochi
Sage loves mochi. After buying it a few times, he decided to make his own. With Grandma's help, they made a whole pan to take to a family gathering.
Cherry Cheesecake Squares
My Dad loves cheesecake. For his birthday we made these cherry cheesecake squares. They are really easy to make and don't require a springform pan. Tastes just like Mom used to make.
Lilikoi Apple Turnovers
Lilikoi, straight from my parents' tree, went into making these passion fruit apple turnovers. I was surprised at how sweet they were. I'm so used to eating imported ones that are quite sour. I used frozen dough as I didn't have lots of time to laminate my own dough.
Cinnamon Rolls
I made cinnamon rolls three times while in Seattle. They disappeared rather quickly with a house full of hungry kids. I like to make the dough the night before and then bake them hot and fresh in the morning.
Strawberry Panna Cotta
August's favorite dessert is strawberry panna cotta. It's a light, silky custard served with a strawberry coulis. I made it for his birthday when we were in Seattle.
Dobash Cake
I made this Dobash cake for my brother's birthday. He used to like the ones from Zippy's but since he moved to Seattle, they were harder to come by. The cake is a moist chocolate with a rich chocolate frosting. Unlike the Zippy's cake, it doesn't have crumbs coated on the sides. I added more cherries since I knew the kids would fight for it if I only put one in the center.
